Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Boccia England are fully committed to the health and safety of the Boccia England network and this continues to be our main priority. We are constantly monitoring the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are following the official advice and guidance from the UK Government, the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.

Latest Covid-19 restrictions – February 2021

The Government has set out a roadmap for easing restrictions based on several key factors over the next few months. Whilst Boccia England cautiously welcomes this announcement, it is important that we understand that there are a number of considerations that need to be addressed before we allow boccia to return which will not be for some time. With the support of the Covid-19 Working group and our Competition Review Group we are working to ensure that a clear roadmap for return to boccia is in place for members and clubs to follow. We expect to share this roadmap by the end of March 2021. In the meantime indoor gyms and sports facilities remain closed and therefore no boccia is allowed until advised.

Guidance on shielding and protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable from Covid-19

The government has developed guidance for everyone who has been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable. If you are in this group, you will previously have received a letter from the NHS or from your GP telling you this. You may have been advised to shield in the past.

General Advice

As you are aware, the situation surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to change, and so our advice remains for you to check government guidance available.

The Government’s general advice states it is critical that everybody observes the following key behaviours:

  • HANDS – Wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds.
  • FACE – Wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
  • SPACE – Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place.

Please get in touch with us if you have questions about the return of your club activity.
