Last weekend 8 England athletes travel to Northern Ireland to compete in the UK Challenger competition hosted by Disability Sport Northern Ireland (DSNI). This competition offered athletes valuable experiences that will continue to support their development and future performances within the Pathway System.

The competition saw debutant Sophie Newnham win Gold and Penny Froude win Bronze in the BC4 classification, with Rafael Young alongside ramp assistant David Ellis, winning Gold in only his second Challenger competition experience in the BC3 classifiaction.

In addition to the medals won, three England athletes recieved special mentions, Rachael Ross and Harrison Smith, were recognised by the team of officials and Caroline Robinson was recognised by the Home Nation Coaches for their performance over the weekend.

“I was thrilled to go to my second Boccia UK challenger this weekend alongside seven England Squad and Future colleagues and return with a first place trophy and many new friends”
