Earlier today, Boccia UK announced that the English BC3, Sally Kidson is one of four athletes to be welcomed onto the World Class Programme, alongside Robyn McBride (Northern Ireland), Kayleigh Haggo (Scotland) and Fiona Muirhead (Scotland).

Through the World Class Programme, athletes receive funding to support them with training and competition. They will also receive guidance and assistance with day-to-day training and through competitions they attend. Additional services such as physiotherapy, sport psychology, strength and conditioning are also available to athletes on the World Class Programme thanks to UK Sport, The National Lottery and the DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport).

In response to the news, Sally said:

“I’m so thankful for Boccia UK for giving me the opportunity to join the World Class Programme and to continue to compete on the international stage. I’m excited to see what the rest of the year brings.”

Sally burst onto the international scene last year at the World Boccia, Poznan Intercontinental Challenger, just missing out on the Bronze medal in her first ever international competition. Sally doesn’t shy away from the big stages, as a keen musician, Sally has performed with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Resound ensemble and the National Open Youth Orchestra.

Boccia England CEO, Chris Ratcliffe, said:

"Congratulations to Sally on your selection onto the World Class Programme, we wish you the best of luck as your boccia journey progresses. Congratulations also to Kayleigh, Fiona and Robyn."
