Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Boccia England are fully committed to the health and safety of the Boccia England network and this continues to be our main priority. We are constantly monitoring the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are following the official advice and guidance from the UK Government, the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.

Latest Covid-19 restrictions – 20 December 2020

We know this is a hugely challenging time for all our members and volunteers and we continue to monitor the situation, updating our guidance as the situation changes.

A four-tier system of restrictions is now in place in England.

There are different restrictions impacting on boccia activity, depending on what alert level tier an area is in:

  • Tier 1 (medium)
  • Tier 2 (high)
  • Tier 3 (very high)
  • Tier 4 (stay at home)

A live list of the areas that fall within each area can be found here.

In response to the latest restrictions, Boccia England has updated our summary  of what this means for a return to boccia. Please use this summary alongside the full guidance document which we have also updated.

Guidance on shielding and protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable from Covid-19

The government has developed guidance for everyone who has been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable. If you are in this group, you will previously have received a letter from the NHS or from your GP telling you this. You may have been advised to shield in the past.

General Advice

As you are aware, the situation surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to change, and so our advice remains for you to check government guidance available.

The Government’s general advice states it is critical that everybody observes the following key behaviours:

  • HANDS – Wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds.
  • FACE – Wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
  • SPACE – Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place.

Please get in touch with us if you have questions about the return of your club activity.
