National Boccia Day is an annual event to celebrate the sport for those already involved and to raise awareness across the country. Today marks exactly two months to go until National Boccia Day 2021, which will be held on Monday 27th September and celebrated in partnership with Disability Sport WalesScottish Disability Sport and Disability Sport Northern Ireland, with support from Irwin Mitchell.

The theme of this year’s National Boccia Day is Boccia Is Back!, which will celebrate the transition from the virtual to the physical world of boccia across the four home nations.

In the week leading up to National Boccia Day 2021, we will be showcasing different elements of boccia and how the sport is starting to move back to physical in person activities across the UK.

And of course, it wouldn’t be National Boccia Day without the boccia community getting involved!

So how can you be part of the National Boccia Day 2021 celebrations?

Host an event

During September we will be asking and supporting boccia clubs, schools and organisations which provide boccia to deliver an NBD themed activity session. Each group that registers will receive a free NBD Activity Pack which will include exclusive activity ideas and stickers along with balloons and bunting to decorate their venue for the celebratory event! The first 20 groups to register will also receive a set of limited edition National Boccia Day 2021 T-shirts.

Stay tuned to our social media channels for more information on how to register from the middle of August!

Enter our competitions

In the week building up to National Boccia Day, following the success of last year, our very popular online competitions will be making a return across our social media channels, providing the opportunity to win limited edition National Boccia Day prizes.

And much more!

There are many other ways you can get involved in celebrating National Boccia Day with us, including:

  • Sharing a picture of yourself holding up a ‘I’m Supporting National Boccia Day 2021” poster, which will be available to download from the NBD21 page next month.
  • Using our National Boccia Day frame on your Facebook Profile Picture. This will be available from Friday 17th September.
  • Getting involved on social media using the hashtags #NationalBocciaDay and #NBD21

We are very grateful to Irwin Mitchell for sponsoring National Boccia Day 2021 and helping to make all this activity possible. Irwin Mitchell provides a wide range of legal and financial services to thousands of individuals and businesses and has been a partner of Boccia England since 2015, helping to raise our profile, identify players for the Talent Pathway, and signpost new players to the Boccia England club network. Their staff have also made boccia more accessible to more people by setting up and supporting the running of boccia clubs across the country.

We hope that you are as excited about National Boccia Day 2021 as we are at Boccia England and we are looking forward to celebrating it with you!

Stay tuned to our social media channels and the event webpage over the coming weeks for more information.
