Extension of 2019-20 membership for existing members

Our Boccia Base membership system has now automatically extended all 2019-20  membership to Boccia England until 30th September 2021. Members will retain their membership number and should now have received an email confirming the renewal of their membership and information relating to the terms and conditions of membership.

Please contact the team if you have any questions.

We have been reviewing our options for 2020-21 BE membership fees against the backdrop of the challenges of the last six months and the next six months as the coronavirus pandemic restrictions continue.

While we have recently published our Back to Boccia guidance, until then there had been no organised boccia activity since March 2020, and our return to the sport is likely to be limited until the situation improves.

Throughout this period the safety and wellbeing of our members and the boccia community has been our priority. Although Covid-19 has had a significant impact on our fundraising activity, income from trading, courses and fees, the connection to our members and ongoing engagement, remains vital. We know how important boccia is to the physical and mental wellbeing of those involved in boccia and we have taken the decision to extend membership for existing members for a further 12 months until 30th September 2021. This includes all membership types.

We hope that by doing this we will help members to remain part of the boccia community and Boccia England when we are able to return more fully to the courts.

Extending membership will allow existing members to retain the benefits of our insurance as well as having the right to vote in our AGM. Other membership benefits can be found here.

Any new members would be required to pay a membership fee.

Members can automatically renew annual membership through Boccia Base, our membership platform. For those that have already renewed, or do so before 30th September 2020, we will contact you to offer you a refund or the option to change it to a donation to the charity. From 1st October 2020 the platform will reflect the option to extend membership for no extra fee. Once you have renewed, you will receive an email with important membership information.

The financial challenge to Boccia England, specifically around fundraising is not unique to our sport. Whilst we have had some success in securing grants, we have faced stiffer competition than usual and more funders have diverted their programmes to help front-line Covid-19 response charities. We have also had to rethink our community fundraising plan for this year as all mass participation events have been cancelled.

If you’d like to make a donation to support our work to keep players and volunteers active and connected whilst we await our full return, you can do this via our website: https://www.bocciaengland.org.uk/Appeal/donate

Although this year won’t be the membership year we would like, we will continue to deliver our services virtually as we have done over the last six months, and work hard to make sure our full and safe return can take place when the time is ready.

We greatly appreciate your ongoing support during this time and hope you all remain safe and well as you face your own set of circumstances.
