Officials Pathway

Referees are an essential part of Boccia and without them the sport would not be able to run. Courses are regularly run to increase the amount of Boccia England referees, so please check the events calendar to see if there is one you would like to attend or book a course.

Level F – Young Official

Accreditation Conditions:

To have completed a Young officials course to a minimum of Bronze.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Referee: The Lords Taverners (TLT) Under 19 Competition
Linesperson: Regional Boccia Championships

Level E – Regional Referee

Accreditation Conditions:

To have previous experience with Boccia and participate with success in a Regional Referee’s course.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Referee: Regional Boccia Championships, Boccia League Playoff Finals, TLT Under 19 Competition
Linesperson: National Boccia Championships, Boccia League National Finals

Level D – National Referee

Accreditation Conditions:

To have been a Level E – Regional Referee, for at least 2 years and have refereed a minimum 15 games and to participate with success in a National Referee’s course.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Referee: National Boccia Championships, Boccia League National Finals
Assistant Head Referee: Regional Boccia Championships, Boccia League Playoff Finals (Additional training required), TLT Under 19 Competition (Additional training required)

Level C – Regional International Referee

Accreditation Conditions:

To have been a Level D – National Referee, for at least 2 years. To have refereed as a National referee, for at least 20 games. To participate with success in a workshop conducted by an Level A – International Accreditor. To be nominated by Boccia England.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Referee: European Championships, Fespic Games, Pan-American Games
Head Referee: All Boccia England Competitions, Train to become a Boccia England Referees Tutor

Level B – International Referee

Accreditation Conditions:

To be a Level C Regional International Referee for at least 2 years and to have refereed at least 10 games every year in a Boccia England Level D National Event.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Referee: World Championships, World Cup, Paralympic Games

Level A – International Accreditor/Head Referee

Accreditation Conditions:

To be nominated by CPISRA Boccia Committee (CBC). To have been a Level B International referee for at least 4 years. To have conducted at least 5 Level D National Referees courses. To have co-operated on a workshop together with a Level A International Accreditor.

Competitions Permitted To Officiate:

Head Referee: All International Competitions

Conditions To Be Accredited In Each Level

All referees’ must have a Log Book and register all the competition and courses that have been attended.
